Comcast Arena at Everett’s Kim Bedier Announced as 2nd Vice Chair of IAVM
Global Spectrum’s General Manager Appointed to Top Industry Organization
The International Association of Venue Managers is pleased to announce the nomination of Kim Bedier, CFE, for 2nd Vice Chair of the IAVM Board of Directors, a prestigious honor, denoting exemplary leadership and dedication to the Sport, Entertainment, and Convention/Exhibition Industry. In this role, Ms. Bedier will become a Senior Officer of the organization, a four (4) year term, ascending to the Chairman position in 2014-15.
Ms. Bedier is the General Manager for Global Spectrum-managed Comcast Arena at Everett (Wash.), an arena, ice rink and conference center complex. She has over 20 years of venue leadership experience, including Air Canada Centre in Toronto and Crystal Centre in Grande Prairie Alberta. Comcast Arena at Everett received the inaugural IAVM Venue Excellence Award for Arenas in 2010.
“Kim’s personal dedication and leadership in the facility management industry are second to none,” said Gary Weikel, President of the Everett Public Facilities District Board. “We are proud of her achievements at Comcast Arena at Everett, with IAVM and within the industry at large. On behalf of the EPFD Board of Directors, I offer my sincere congratulations to her in this enhanced role.”
“Global Spectrum is proud of Kim and her ongoing commitment to IAVM,” said Global Spectrum Chief Operating Officer John Page. “We know IAVM will benefit greatly from her leadership and experience.”
Ms. Bedier has been a member of IAVM since 1996 and has served on the IAVM Foundation Board of Trustees, Membership Committee, Facility Manager Editorial Advisory Board, as Chair of the Venue Management School Board of Regents and Arenas Committee, and on the executive committees of IAVM and of IAVM Region IV. She currently instructs at both VMS and the Graduate Institute. In 2007 Bedier was named one of the five inaugural “Women of Influence” in the venue industry by Venues Today.
She received the Corporate Executive of the Year Award from the Everett Area Chamber of Commerce and several Service Above Self Awards as a member of the Everett Rotary Club. She is on the boards of the Seattle Sports Commission, Snohomish County YMCA, and Domestic Violence Services, and is Past President of the Downtown Everett Association. Ms. Bedier was honored with the Ray Ward Award at the 2011 Venue Management School at Oglebay for her dedicated service and extraordinary contributions to the overall success and quality of the school.
“I am extremely honored to receive this nomination and look forward to serving my professional association in a senior leadership role. IAVM and its programs and services, especially the Venue Management School, have played a major role throughout my career,” Ms. Bedier said.
Ms. Bedier follows in the path of a great number of predecessors that, over the past 87 years, have helped to shape the industry, and ultimately, the communities they serve. IAVM members will vote electronically on this nomination, and, if elected, Ms. Bedier will take office in July during the Annual Conference & Trade Show, VenueConnect, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
